There are a growing number of grassroots blogs around the country by Edwards supporters dedicated to generating support for and connecting supporters of John Edwards. I happen to partcipate in one, along with a number of other Democrats in Boston.
I know I probably am not even aware of many of them but I took a sampling of the ones I found (made easy thanks to Google reader) After the break here's some of the best stuff I found from the last week.
First up my colleague AmberPaw and her report from Manchester NH:
I was there- John Edwards One America New Hampshire Tour Stops in Manchester
He stood there
in blue jeans, surrounded by ordinary folk, outdoors,
in folding chairs [the campaign said it had set up 150
chairs - all were full and there were plenty standing
- he was in the open, standing on the bricks of the
plaza, eye to eye.]
Next a another eyewitness account from an Edwards supporter in Ohio.
It's Time for a "Wake-up Call"!
I am a fortunate man. I have stood within a handshakes distance and heard Johnny Reid Edwards deliver this message of new hope with my own ears. I am part and parcel to a generational movement for fundamental transformational change. I am a "progressive populist". We are not new, as the talking heads would like you to believe, oh no. We have been here for over one hundred years and we have, at last, found "our voice". John Edwards has been on fire as he moves through New Hampshire! Listen to the truth and weigh your future, your children's future, and your grand-children's future.
Just to give you a bit of flavor of what the Local Roots for Edwards are about in Sacramento they're gearing up for a voter registration canvas. Go Sacramento!
Voter Registration Canvas in Oak Park
Please mark Saturday, October 6, 2007 on your calendars. On that day the "Sacramento for Edwards Coalition with Assemblymember Dave Jones" will be holding a voter registration canvas in the Oak Park area.
In Madison for Edwards, one of my favorites, Peter is thinking about labor endorsements and makes the case for Edwards.
As we cruise towards Labor Day, there are questions that some folks will be asking. For most Americans, it's "Hot dogs or brats?" For political junkies, it's "Who will the unions endorse?" For many more of us, it's "Whither heads the labor movement?"...Labor doesn't need another Democrat in elected office, especially the presidency, that wants labor's support because they want to get elected. Labor needs a president who is a passionate advocate for organized labor and the men and women workers of this country that crave social and economic justice, who will stand up for labor and workers and take on the powerful. John Edwards is that candidate, as evidenced by a track record WITH labor that goes back years. He's not showing up on picket lines in 2007 because he's looking for good press in the labor community. He's been doing it before it mattered to this race because he gets labor, they get him, and he will fight for them and for One America.
Of course, there's more out there in Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, Texas, and New Hampshire, but that's from me for now.
